
Riyadh: A short film on the theme of drug-shattering life titled ‘The Darkness’ (Eruttu) was released by the renowned Social worker Mr. Salim Kalakara through the YouTube channel. The short movie questions how the present social conditions guide the youth to become addicted to drugs. The theme of the film is about an expatriate family ruined after their son falls under the control of the drug mafia.
The damage caused by drug use on families and communities is enormous; the film also shares a message about the importance of standing up against it.

The film is produced under the banner of Magnum Opus Media. The area of cinematography, editing, writing, and direction are supervised by the media personality Mr. Shamnad Karunagappally. Title and Graphics by Kanesh Chandran, Poster Design by Prakash Viola, Sadiq Karunagappally, Nisar Pallikasseril, and Rahman Munambath are the other behind-the-scenes artists.

The central character Shaji was played by Social worker Zakir Danat and Sabira Labib played the role of the heroine. And the other characters are played by Adesh, Shanawaz Munambath, Sadiq Karunagappally, Naseer Khan, Nasser Lace, Shemir Kallingal, Shanoj Abdullah, Lias Mecheri, Razin Razak, Dilip Kannur, Jaish Junaid, Sangeetha Anoop, Haripriya, Sangeet and Master Adidev Vinod.
This short film was shot on mobile phones in and around Riyadh city. The launching ceremony of this short film was held at Almas Auditorium in Malas. Shihab Kotukad, Dr. Abdul Aziz, Abdullah Vallanchira, Muhammad Shefiq, Maimuna Abbas, Abdul Nasr, Majeed Maitri, Abi Joy, and other prominent social and cultural personalities contributed their presence at the event.
