Riyadh: Bindu Sabu and Khadija Nisa have been honored with the first ‘Jwala’ Award, launched by Keli Kudumbavedi to honor women who demonstrate talent in various fields.
Courageously battling an unexpected stroke during her working life, she braved all physical handicaps to cherish her passion for dance and inspire others. Bindu Sabu received the award in recognition of her talent in dance teaching and choreography. Khadija Niza is the first Indian to win a gold medal in the Saudi National Badminton Tournament. The “Jwala 2023” awards were presented at the Women’s Day event held at Al Owaida Auditorium, Al Khair.
The “Jwala 2023” event, attended by hundreds of families, was enriched by a variety of artistic performances. The program started with a video presentation on the International Women’s Day theme of “Digital World for All” and “Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.
Dammam Navodaya Kudumbavedi Central Vice President Shahida Shanawaz inaugurated the event and President Priya Vinod presided over the program. The welcome address was delivered by Secretary Seeba Koovod.
Mrs. Bindu Sabu’s words while receiving the award from Kudumbavedi Secretary Seeba Koovod, were inspiring to all. She said that everyone needs to learn the ability to transform whatever difficulties one faces physically into courage to gain mental strength.
In Khadija Nisa’s absence, her father Lathif Kotoor received the award from President Priya Vinod. Khadija Nisa’s father Lathif Kotoor also shared the recognition and pride he gets in the society as a father for his daughter’s rise in his reply speech.
Children from dance schools “Sindhu Soman’s Devika Nritha Kalakshetra”, “Reena Krishnakumar’s Chilanka” and ‘Dance and Music’ performed various dance forms.
Anamikaraj with a visual interpretation of Murugan Kattakada’s poem ‘Kanalpottu’ and Sindhu Shaji with a solo act on a transgender theme gave a strong performance.
The program concluded with a magnificent and unforgettable musical evening by Kannur Seenath and leading singers of Riyadh.
