Sri Lankan Ambassador welcomes the world to the beauty of Sri Lanka

Riyadh: The Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia welcomed the tourists to take pleasure in the diverse beauty of the Sri Lankan island. The aim is to attract Saudi natives and foreigners to the land of Sri Lanka. The event was organized under the leadership of the Sri Lankan Ambassador with the participation of diplomatic partners and journalists in the field of tourism.

A documentary was also screened to inform the audience on Sri Lanka’s tourism visitor’s statistics, heritage, culture, architectural history, nature, and food.

Due to Covid and the recent uprising following the financial catastrophe, tourism in Sri Lanka has been in crisis since 2019. However, since 2023, the Sri Lankan tourism sector has begun to get better. In January and February alone, over 100,000 tourists visited Sri Lanka. According to Ambassador P M Aamza, this is a good sign for Sri Lankan tourism. ‘We’re coming back. ‘Hold our hands and walk with us,’ the ambassador requested.

Minister Sanjeeva Pativila and the head of the embassy’s chancery, N.M.M Anas, both spoke at the occasion to declare that the nation is prepared to once more welcome visitors from abroad.
