16 Malayalees were among the 278 individuals transported to Jeddah as part of Operation Kaveri

Riyadh: 278 Indians who were stuck in the civil war-torn Sudan arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on board the navy ship INS Sumedha. As part of the “Operation Kaveri” rescue effort, they were transferred to Jeddah. The C130J aircraft of the Air Force will then transport them back home. In the upcoming days, the Sumedha ship will transport more individuals from Sudan to Jeddah.

Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muralidharan, who arrived in Jeddah yesterday morning, is supervising the rescue mission. There are a total of 3000 Indians including Malayalis in Sudan.
