India-Saudi bond is solid: Ambassador Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan

Riyadh: Saudi is an important companion of India, New Saudi Ambassador Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan stated. Both nations always maintain the best bilateral friendship and strong relations between them. The ambassador was expressing his gratitude to the Indian expatriate community for their generosity.

The relationship between the two countries has decades of history. The relationship between the two countries grew warmer during the celebration of India’s 75th Independence Day ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia and the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to India became an opportunity for further progress in social, cultural, and economic fields. The ambassador also stated that last year’s visit of high-level delegations led by ministers make happen of more businesses in various fields.

India is Saudi’s second business partner.  The estimated trade was 42 billion dollars during the years 2021-22.  In other side Saudi Arabia is India’s fourth largest trading partner. In addition to the social and cultural ground, many reforms are taking place in Saudi Arabia under the Saudi Vision 2030 plan, opening up more opportunities in the areas of infrastructure development, entertainment, and technology. The ambassador also mentioned the recent visit of film stars Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan to Saudi Arabia.

There are 25 lakh Indians in Saudi Arabia; they are the bridge between the two countries.  The Saudi leaders have recognized the contribution made by the Indian diaspora to the development of Saudi Arabia. The Government of India has introduced several schemes for the welfare of expatriates and scholarship schemes for the children of expatriates. The Ambassador also stated that the gate of the Riyadh Indian Embassy, which is open 24 hours a day, is always fit out for the welfare and assistance of their expatriates.

Representatives from various expatriate groups, and associates from different states, received the Ambassador humbly with bouquets of flowers.  The event was organized by the Indian Community Steering Committee. Shihab Kottukad, Sajan Lathif, Niaz Ahmed, Misbah Imifin, Muhammad Ghulam, Santhosh Shetty, Sathish Kumar Deepak, Sulthan Masharudeen, Ahmad Imthiaz, Abrar Hussain, Muhammad Mubeen and Inamullah Azim extended their greetings to the audience in the program. Salim Muhiuddin, Maimuna Abbas and Takhiuddin Mir organized the event. Saigum Khan delivered the welcome speech and Abdul Ahad Siddiqui gave the vote of thanks.
