Riyadh: The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced that a total of 66,633,153 worshippers and pilgrims visited the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during Jumada Al-Awwal 1447 AH, marking an increase of 12,121,252 over the previous month.
According to the authority, the Grand Mosque in Makkah received 25,987,679 worshippers, including 100,489 who prayed in the Hijr Ismail area. The number of Umrah pilgrims reached 13,972,780 during the same period.
Meanwhile, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah recorded 23,296,185 worshippers, with 912,695 visiting the Rawdah Al-Sharifah. Additionally, 2,363,325 visitors conveyed their greetings to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two companions (may God be pleased with them).
The authority highlighted that it uses advanced sensor-based technology at the main entrances of both mosques to monitor visitor numbers. This system helps improve operational efficiency by tracking crowd movement and assisting relevant agencies in managing the flow of worshippers in coordination with partner authorities.
