India’s Contribution to Global Health; Saudi Arabian Yoga Day Seminar

Riyadh: The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia organised an international conference on June 19, 2023, as part of the 9th International Yoga Day celebrations. “Yoga for Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” was the theme of the programme held at the Embassy Auditorium. The event was held in conjunction with the “Azadi Ka Amrit” Mahotsav celebrations.

Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan, India’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, presided over the meeting. Guruji Dr. HR Nagendra, Padma Shri awardee and Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor, Svyasa University, and Dr. Manjunath Sharma, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor and Research Director, Svyasa University, were the chief guests on the occasion.

Dr. David Frawley of the American Vedic Institute, Senior Scientist Molecular Oncology Dr. AK Murugan – KFSHRC, Svyasa University PhD Scholar Dr. K. Mayarani Senan, Family Medicine Physician, Ministry of National Guards; Dr. Anwar Khurshid, and Dr. Vineesh, scientist from the Department of Cell Biology, all talked.

The programme covered the most recent research in several aspects of yoga. World Health, Yoga and Ayurveda, Yoga and Cancer Treatment, Efficacy of Yoga in Psycho-Somatic Diseases, Yoga and Heart Problems, and Yoga and Diabetes were among the themes covered by the speakers.

The event was attended by invited members of the Indian diaspora as well as Embassy officials. Ambassador Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan and Deputy principal of Mission Shri N Ram Prasad presented the chief guests and speakers with mementos.
