Riyadh Season to Kick Off with Indian Cultural Fest Tomorrow

Riyadh: The Saudi Arabian capital is all set for a grand celebration as the Riyadh Season, organized by the General Entertainment Authority, kicks off tomorrow with an Indian cultural festival. The event, which will run from October 13 to 21, will showcase the rich diversity of Indian culture, along with performances from over nine other countries, all hosted at Riyadh’s Suwaidi Park.

The Riyadh Season, spread across 14 different zones in the city, aims to offer residents and expatriates a diverse range of entertainment options. Suwaidi Park, a free-entry zone, will light up with the inauguration of the Indian cultural festival tomorrow, as confirmed by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority’s Global Cultural and Entertainment COO, Sari Shaaban, during a press meet.

The highlight of the Indian festival will be a grand cultural procession, reflecting the country’s vibrant traditions. Renowned artists from Kerala, including singers Shiya Majeed, Lakshmi Jayan, Nisar Wayanad, Punya Pradeep, and cricketer Sreesanth, are expected to make special appearances. Additionally, a team of Hindi playback singers will be performing as part of the celebrations. India has been granted the longest duration of the season to showcase its cultural diversity, offering a unique platform for cultural exchange.

Though entry to the festival is free, attendees are required to register online at www.webook.com to obtain a QR code, which must be presented at the entrance to manage the large crowds expected.

In addition to India, cultural performances from countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Yemen, Turkey, Sudan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan will also be featured at Suwaidi Park. Organizers stated that this event provides expatriate communities in Saudi Arabia a wonderful opportunity to enjoy cultural and entertainment programs free of charge.

The Indian cultural festival will run until October 21, after which performances from other nations will follow, according to the following schedule:

October 22–25: Philippines, October 26–29: Indonesia, October 30–November 2: Pakistan, November 3–6: Yemen, November 7–16: Sudan, November 17–19: Syria and Jordan (LEVANT), November 20–23: Bangladesh, November 24–30: Egypt

The Riyadh Season promises to be an exciting cultural extravaganza, offering a unique blend of entertainment for both the local population and expatriates alike.
