Yoga Demonstration at Riyadh Al Madhi Park

Riyadh : As part of the 9th International Yoga Day celebrations, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia held an international day of yoga on June 21, 2023. “Yoga for Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” was the theme of the event, which took place at Riyadh’s Al Madi Park. The event lined up with the “Azadi Ka Amrit” Mahotsav celebrations.

Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, explained the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life as well as the health benefits of yoga. He also raised awareness about the significance of two new initiatives launched by the Government of India, “Arctic to Antarctic” and “Ocean Ring of Yoga,” as part of the ongoing ‘IDY 2023’ celebrations around the world.

The event’s chief guest was Guruji Dr. HR Nagendra, a recipient of the Padma Shri award and the Hon. Chancellor of Svyasa University. Dr. Manjunath Sharma, the illustrious pro vice chancellor and director of research at Svyasa University, also attended the event.

The first step in the yoga exhibition was to recite a traditional yoga prayer before beginning the yoga demonstrations, which included pranayama and meditation practices. Yoga-themed dances were performed by students from Vaidehi Nrithya Vidyalaya and Chilanga Dance Academy.

Indian Embassy officials and their families, Indian community members, school students, teachers from various schools in Saudi Arabia, Saudi nationals and invited guests from other countries also attended the event.

Dr. Suhail Ajaz Khan, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Mr. N. Ram Prasad, Deputy Chief of Mission, presented mementos to sponsors, dance troupes, yoga instructors, and medical support teams.
